They never really defined the nature of their relationship like most other Travelers tended to, but there is a very distinct sense of mine in how Gale feels for Stone. It's never been jealous or possessive, Gale just isn't that way, but it's still there. He lost his tribe years ago, the pack too now since all this happened. He doesn't want to lose Stone too.

"Your clothing." Gale follows obediently, sensing out as far as he can, but there's so much going on in a forest it's hard to pinpoint anything that is or isn't a direct threat. "If you've been gone for the time we are claiming, it's unlikely that you would still be wearing what you wore the day you left."
